Geometric
Growing up in Central Asia I was heavily influenced by Arabic art with its geometric and abstract patterns. I attended a specialized math high school and studied theoretical math at Tashkent State University.
I also studied under Tachat Oganesov (1922-1991), a nationally recognized artist, art historian, and a senior lecturer at the Ostrovskiy Theater and Artistic Art Institute in Tashkent.
This time and study deepened my fascination with geometric art forms and pattern recognition.
The “Geometric” works each originate from a corresponding original “free hand” artwork from a traditional medium. The patterns are created by applying symmetrical, kaleidoscopic mirror effects.
Note: There is a lot of fine hand drawn detail in my art, including in much of my digital work, and the sharpness and clarity of line and color do not fully convey with online image quality limitations.
